OPM
About OPM
OPM, or Original Pilipino Music, is the broad mainstream of Filipino pop and balladry that took shape from the 1970s as a conscious movement to champion homegrown songwriting. At its heart is the kundiman-descended love ballad, delivered by powerhouse vocalists and polished by composers like Ryan Cayabyab. From Freddie Aguilar's Anak to the diva era of Regine Velasquez, OPM is the sound of the Filipino radio and the karaoke machine.
