About Freddie Aguilar

Freddie Aguilar was the Philippines' great folk troubadour and the writer of Anak, a heartfelt 1978 ballad about a parent's love that became one of the best-selling Filipino songs ever, translated into dozens of languages and covered worldwide. His raspy, honest voice also carried Bayan Ko into an anthem of the People Power revolution against the Marcos dictatorship. He remained a symbol of Filipino song and conscience until his death in 2025.
