Costa Rica's home-grown tropical and cumbia scene, built around dance orchestras and bandas tropicales from the 1960s onward. Less of an export than Colombian cumbia, more of a national soundtrack for weddings, turnos, and Sunday afternoons, with brass-heavy arrangements and a slower, looser groove than its neighbours.
