Venezuelan Pop

Über Venezuelan Pop

From the 1970s Venezuela produced a run of balada and pop stars who conquered the wider Spanish-speaking world. José Luis Rodríguez, El Puma, turned romantic pop into telenovela-scale spectacle, while songwriters like Franco De Vita and Ricardo Montaner filled arenas with heartfelt ballads. Yordano and Ilan Chester gave the scene its literate, singer-songwriter conscience.
