Über Guaco

Guaco is one of the most important and enduring bands in Venezuelan music. Formed in Maracaibo in the late 1960s as a gaita group, they steadily absorbed salsa, jazz, funk, and pop into a lush, brass-heavy sound they call changa, becoming a national institution over more than five decades. Their sophisticated arrangements and run of hits made them a bridge between Zulia's folk roots and modern tropical pop, and they remain one of Venezuela's biggest live draws.
