About Slovenian Punk
Yugoslavia's punk scene started in Ljubljana. Pankrti played the first Yugoslav punk concert in October 1977 and released the first Yugoslav punk single the year after, kicking open a door that Niet, Otroci socializma, and the wider Ljubljana hardcore scene poured through in the 1980s. The lyrics named Slovenian targets and used Slovenian slang, which is part of why the scene became foundational to Slovene youth culture decades after the original wave.
