The Calypso King of the World, born in Grenada and raised in Trinidad, and the most decorated calypsonian who ever lived. Jean and Dinah took both the Calypso King crown and the Road March in 1956, its lyrics about American servicemen leaving the Chaguaramas base read as a national statement about independence. He won the Monarch title eight times and the Road March another eight. His catalogue runs to hundreds of songs and set the standard every later calypsonian works against.
