About Leningrad

Leningrad was formed in St Petersburg in 1997 by Sergey Shnurov and Igor Vdovin, and Shnurov took over lead vocals after Vdovin left in 1999. The group mixes ska, punk and brass band arrangements with blunt, profanity heavy lyrics about everyday Russian life. Singles such as WWW and Mne by v nebo, both from 2002, brought the band a national audience. Leningrad split in 2008 and reunited in 2010, and 2016 videos such as V Pitere pit and Eksponat drew huge online audiences. The band keeps releasing singles and videos in the 2020s.
