About La India

La India, called La Princesa de la Salsa, is one of the most powerful female voices in the genre's modern history. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the Bronx, she moved from freestyle and house music into salsa under the mentorship of Eddie Palmieri and Tito Puente. Her fierce interpretation of Ese Hombre became an anthem, and she stands among the very few women to reach the top rank of a male-dominated tradition.
