Leyton-formed band that, with Bruce Dickinson on vocals from 1981, became the defining act of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The Number of the Beast (1982) and Powerslave (1984) made the band a global stadium force, and their continuous touring through the 1990s, 2000s, and 2020s has built one of metal's most loyal international audiences.
