About Gustav Holst

Gustav Holst was an English composer best known for The Planets, a vast orchestral suite of astonishing power and invention. Its movements, from the warlike Mars to the soaring Jupiter, became some of the most influential orchestral music of the twentieth century, echoing through film scores ever since. A devoted teacher, he shaped English music alongside his friend Vaughan Williams.
