About Gerhard Gundermann

A coal-mine excavator operator who became the DDR's most authentic working-class poet. Recruited as a Stasi informant — a fact that haunted him after reunification. After the Wall fell he became the voice of alienated former East Germans. A 2018 biographical film won six German Film Awards.
