Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart's synth-pop duo, formed in 1980 from the ashes of the Tourists. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) (1983) topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and turned Lennox's androgynous vocal and Stewart's Roland sequencer hook into one of the most-imitated sounds of the decade. Touch (1983), Be Yourself Tonight (1985), and Savage (1987) extended the catalogue across electronic pop, rock, and soul; the duo reunited briefly in 1999 for Peace.
