Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree's band defined Britpop's more art-school wing through Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995), then pivoted in 1997 with their self-titled album toward American lo-fi and finally to the experimental 13 (1999). Their 2003-15 hiatus and 2023 return at Wembley Stadium both became cultural events.
