Birmingham four-piece who invented heavy metal in 1968. Tony Iommi's downtuned guitar riffs, Geezer Butler's bass, Bill Ward's drumming, and Ozzy Osbourne's voice produced the genre's founding document, the self-titled 1970 debut, then Paranoid the same year. The first six Sabbath albums established almost every metal sub-genre that followed.
