About Alfredo Marceneiro

A cabinetmaker by trade — hence his nickname Marceneiro — Alfredo Duarte was one of the great fadistas of the early 20th century. Known for his dramatic vocal style and expressive phrasing, he helped establish fado's male vocal tradition alongside the female-dominated genre.
