Slovenia's kantavtor tradition: solo voice, acoustic guitar, literate Slovene lyrics. Tomaž Pengov's 1973 debut "Odpotovanja" is the founding document, often called the first proper Yugoslav singer-songwriter album. Andrej Šifrer, Vlado Kreslin, and Iztok Mlakar carried it forward into folk-rock, Romani-tinged Prekmurje folk, and Mediterranean coastal chanson. The form is small, intimate, and central to how Slovene as a literary language survives in popular music.
