Korean-language hip-hop that grew from an underground scene in the late 1990s into one of the country's most popular genres. Pioneers like Drunken Tiger and Epik High established a distinct lyrical style, and televised competitions in the 2010s pushed the sound into the mainstream. It now shapes much of Korean youth culture and overlaps heavily with K-pop.
