Über Zhao Lei
Beijing folk singer who worked street-busking and small Beijing livehouses for years before his 2017 appearance on the reality show 我是歌手 turned 成都, a song about wandering the streets of the Sichuan capital with someone you love, into the most-streamed Mandarin folk song of the decade. His warm guitar style and place-name lyrics gave the new folk movement its biggest crossover star. The 2022 single 我記得 confirmed his pull on national television without him changing his sound.
