Über Ruben Tagalog
Ruben Tagalog is remembered as the Father of Kundiman, the singer who carried the Philippines' classic love-song tradition into the recording era. His warm, unhurried baritone defined how the kundiman and the balladry that followed should sound, and his version of Dahil Sa Iyo became a national standard. Through radio and vinyl he made the genre a fixture of mid-century Filipino life and mentored a generation of vocalists.
