Óscar D'León is Venezuela's salsa titan and one of the greatest soneros in the history of Latin music, known worldwide as El Sonero del Mundo. A former taxi driver from Caracas, he burst out fronting Dimensión Latina in 1972 before a solo career of electrifying live shows, spinning his upright bass on stage while improvising for hours. His Llorarás is a salsa standard, and he is one of the few non-Cuban artists ever invited to perform in Havana to adoring crowds.
