Über Ibrahim Ferrer
Ibrahim Ferrer sang with Pacho Alonso and Los Bocucos through the 1950s and 1960s, then retired and was shining shoes in Havana when Ry Cooder pulled him in to sing on Buena Vista Social Club in 1996. His warm, weathered voice on Dos Gardenias became one of the defining sounds of the late-life Cuban revival. He won a Latin Grammy at 76 and toured the world until his death.
