Über Hijas del Sol

Duo of Piruchi Apo Botupá and her niece Paloma Loribo Apo, from Bioko island, who formed in 1992 and became the first Equatoguinean act with a real international audience. Their Nubenegra albums Sibèba (1995) and Kottó (1997) set Bubi-language singing against spare acoustic arrangements, and Tirso de Molina turned the migrant experience in Madrid into a pop song. Kchaba followed in 2000 with a Fela Kuti tribute, and Pasaporte Mundial in 2001 produced Ay! Corazón, which went to number one on Spain's Los 40 Principales. They stopped working together in 2006 and both continued as solo artists.
