Gunditjmara and Bundjalung singer-songwriter and member of the Stolen Generations whose 1990 debut Charcoal Lane, produced by Paul Kelly and Steve Connolly, opened with Took the Children Away, the foundational Stolen Generations song. Roach received the Order of Australia in 2015. He died in July 2022; tributes ran on every Australian network.
