First Nations music from Australia, drawing on 60,000+ years of song tradition and entering the recorded-music canon from the 1980s onward. Yothu Yindi's Treaty (1991) was the first global crossover hit; Warumpi Band and No Fixed Address opened the door; Archie Roach's Took the Children Away (1990) became the Stolen Generations anthem. The 2000s and 2010s brought Gurrumul's Yolngu-language balladry and Baker Boy's hip-hop in Yolngu Matha, anchoring an Indigenous music scene that now spans every genre.
