About Omara Portuondo

Known as the novia del feeling, Omara Portuondo has been at the centre of Cuban song for more than seventy years. She sang in the celebrated Cuarteto d'Aida in the 1950s, kept the bolero alive through the long lean decades, and then introduced herself to a new audience as the sole female voice on Buena Vista Social Club in 1997. Latin Grammy winner, still recording and touring into her nineties.
