About Hossein Alizadeh
Composer and tar player who moved Persian classical music from pure improvisation toward written composition without abandoning the radif. Ney Nava, released in 1983, sets a ney against a string orchestra and is among the most played Iranian compositions of the last half century. He has scored films including Gabbeh and Turtles Can Fly. He teaches as much as he performs, and much of the current generation studied with him.
