About Farhad Mehrad
A singer with a rough, weary voice unlike anything else in Iranian popular music, who sang about ordinary and often bleak subjects while the mainstream sang about love. Jomeh, associated with the 1971 film Khodahafez Rafigh, is his best known song and reads as a portrait of a grey Tehran Friday. He was largely silenced after the revolution and released little in his last two decades. He died in Paris in 2002.
