About Ziglibithy
Ziglibithy is the style Ernesto Djédjé built in the mid 1970s from the gbégbé and other Bété rhythms of western Côte d'Ivoire. Electric guitars and a full horn section sit over the percussion, and the vocals stay in Bété rather than French. It was the first Ivorian genre to travel across West Africa on its own name, and it set the terms for everything the country's popular music did afterwards.
