Rock sung in Greenlandic, which in Kalaallit Nunaat arrived as a political act rather than an import. Sume's 1973 debut set Greenlandic lyrics against hard guitar and is treated as the start of modern Greenlandic popular music. The line runs through Zikaza and Chilly Friday to Nanook, whose songs kept the language at the centre while the arrangements grew wider.
