Coladeira
About Coladeira
Coladeira is morna's upbeat cousin, faster and wry where morna is mournful, born in São Vicente as dance-floor relief from all that longing. Its swinging rhythm and satirical lyrics made it the party half of the classic Cape Verdean repertoire, and singers like Cesária Évora and Tito Paris move fluidly between the two. It later fed into the electric cola-zouk of the diaspora.
