Cameroonian Roots Pop

About Cameroonian Roots Pop

A grouping for Cameroonian records that build popular songs directly out of local instruments, languages and traditions. It runs from Anne-Marie Nzié's Ewondo singing over Hawaiian guitar through André-Marie Tala's hard funk to Francis Bebey's sanza and drum machine experiments. It is an editorial listening category rather than a single indigenous genre.
