Mbalax
À propos de Mbalax
Senegal's signature popular music, fusing Wolof sabar drumming with Cuban son, jazz, soul, and rock. Pioneered by Étoile de Dakar in 1977 and crystallised by Youssou N'Dour, mbalax made traditional Wolof rhythms the basis of a modern pop language that still defines the country's sound.
