À propos de Totó la Momposina

Singer and drummer from the Mompós region who spent decades preserving and elevating the Afro-Indigenous music of Colombia's Caribbean coast. She learned cumbia, bullerengue, and chalupa from her family and toured the world as a folkloric ambassador, performing at Gabriel García Márquez's Nobel Prize ceremony in 1982. Her Real World album 'La Candela Viva' (1993) introduced her drum-and-chant tradition to global audiences. She remains one of the most important custodians of Colombia's coastal roots.
