About Senegalese Hip-Hop
Wolof-language hip-hop with sabar samples and griot cadence, born in Dakar's late-1980s underground and pushed worldwide by Positive Black Soul and Daara J Family in the 1990s. The 2020s wave (Omzo Dollar, Samba Peuzzi) trades in trap and drill production while keeping Wolof and French as the working languages, and gave Senegal its first Def Jam signing.
