About Russian Hip-Hop

Russian-language hip-hop grew from a 1990s underground into one of the country's biggest genres by the 2010s. Battle rap events such as Versus Battle turned rappers into online stars, and dense, literary verse became a hallmark of the scene. Artists such as Husky pushed the style toward darker, more experimental sounds that draw on poetry as much as on American rap.
