About Equatoguinean Pop

Contemporary popular music from the mainland and Malabo, sung in Fang, Spanish and Bubi. Baron Ya Búk-Lu has worked the crossover end since the 1990s, folding olong rhythm into reggae, funk and afrobeat, while Ngal Madunga came at it from Congolese rumba. The newer generation, from Narkelly Pana to Nanda Nfá, releases digital singles at a pace the older album cycle never allowed.
