Cubatón is Cuba's home-grown answer to reggaeton, fused with timba grooves, hip-hop swagger, and the island's appetite for street-corner storytelling. From the late 1990s hip-hop crews who brought the rhyme tradition home, through Gente de Zona's global crossover, to the 2021 protest anthem Patria y Vida, cubatón is the sound of contemporary Cuban pop culture.
