The post-2000 wave of Beijing guitar bands and labels (Maybe Mars, Modern Sky) that built a club circuit around D-22 and School Bar. Drawing on no-wave, post-punk, and shoegaze, this scene produced Carsick Cars, P.K.14, and Hedgehog and gave Chinese underground rock its first sustained international audience.
