Vico C is the founding father of Spanish-language rap and a foundational figure for reggaetón, a San Juan MC who began rhyming in the late 1980s before the genre had a name. His early singles fused hip-hop with island rhythms and thoughtful, socially aware lyrics, setting the template that later reggaetoneros built on. He is universally credited as the philosopher and pioneer of Puerto Rican urban music.
