About Uchpa
Uchpa are a pioneering band that fuses electric blues and rock with the Quechua language and Andean instruments and melodies. Formed in Ayacucho in the early 1990s, they sing of the highlands in Quechua over distorted guitars and harmonica, creating a startling bridge between ancient tradition and modern rock. They became a symbol of Indigenous pride and one of Peru's most original musical projects.
