About The Makaha Sons

One of the most important groups of the Hawaiian Renaissance, originally known as the Makaha Sons of Niʻihau. They launched the career of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and championed traditional Hawaiian song and language through the 1970s and beyond. Their tight harmonies and reverence for the old mele made them beloved across the islands. They continued as a leading Hawaiian group after Iz left for his solo career.
