About Tego Calderón

Tego Calderón is one of reggaetón's most respected lyricists, a Santurce artist who brought a distinctive raspy flow and an unapologetic celebration of Black Puerto Rican identity to the genre. Drawing on salsa, bomba, and Afro-Caribbean roots, his 2003 debut El Abayarde reshaped what reggaetón could sound like and say. He remains admired as the genre's conscience and one of its finest wordsmiths.
