Satyricon
About Satyricon
Satyricon, formed in Oslo in 1990 by Satyr and later joined by drummer Frost, took Norwegian black metal from the underground toward the mainstream. Early records like Nemesis Divina (1996) are scene landmarks; from Volcano (2002) and the single K.I.N.G. onward, the band streamlined into a groove-driven, rock-inflected black metal that won them a Spellemann award and a 2013 collaboration with the Norwegian National Opera Chorus. They remain one of the few black metal acts to headline major Norwegian venues under their own name.
