Run-DMC brought hip-hop out of the disco era and into hard beats, leather, and Adidas. Their 1986 collaboration with Aerosmith on Walk This Way broke rap onto MTV and rock radio, and Raising Hell became the first rap album to go platinum. They defined the look and sound of 1980s hip-hop.
