About Picaflor de los Andes

Picaflor de los Andes was one of the most beloved huayno singers in Peruvian history, a voice of the central highlands whose songs spoke to the joys and hardships of Andean life. His warm, plaintive delivery over harp and violin made him a giant of the golden age of huayno. His funeral in 1975 drew one of the largest crowds Lima had ever seen, a testament to his hold on the migrant heart.
