About Pape Diouf

One of the most popular Senegalese singers of the 2010s, Pape Diouf rose through Coumba Gawlo Seck's band before founding La Génération Consciente in 2002 and becoming a fixture on Senegalese television. His tightly produced mbalax with reggae and R&B colour gave him a dominant run on the country's club circuit through the late 2000s and 2010s. He died in March 2024 at the age of 44 after a long illness, prompting national mourning.
