Supreme NTM, from the Seine-Saint-Denis banlieue north of Paris, defined the hard, confrontational style of French rap. MCs JoeyStarr and Kool Shen delivered aggressive, politically charged lyrics over heavy beats that captured the anger and energy of the French housing projects. Their 1991 track 'Le Monde de Demain' was a generational anthem. NTM's uncompromising stance and raw delivery made them pioneers who opened the door for an entire wave of French hip-hop.
