Nana Benz du Togo
About Nana Benz du Togo
Nana Benz du Togo take their name from the women who ran Lomé's wax-print trade and drove Mercedes on the proceeds. The group sets vodun chant and Ewé call-and-response against electronic production, which puts them somewhere between a ritual ensemble and a club act. They broke out internationally with the album Agoo and sessions including a KEXP live set. They are the most visible Togolese group on the current world-music circuit.
