Lura is a Lisbon-born Cape Verdean singer who became a leading voice of the batuku revival and a global ambassador for the islands' music. Her 2005 album Di Korpu Ku Alma and its song Na Ri Na brought the once-marginalized women's percussion tradition to international stages. Blending batuku, coladeira, and funaná with contemporary production, she has kept Cape Verdean roots music vital for a new generation.
